Fournier's Gangrene of the Scrotum
Fournier’s gangrene is a gas producing anaerobe infection peculiar to the scrotum. The infection spreads in the subcutaneous tissue and produces lethal toxic substances. The life of the patient is at stake, so don’t hesitate with surgery. The only cure is a radical excision of all infected tissue. Remember that the testes have a separate blood supply via the spermatic cords and always survives the infection how bad it may look. When all infected skin and subcutaneous tissue has been excised the testes are placed in pockets made in the upper part of the thighs. Cover with broad spectrum antibiotics including metronidazole for anaerobes. That's shocking, poor man. · · · · · · · · · · · · |
