The injury picture looks nothing like the individual from the video as well as the way the video is presented. Just feels fake all around to me personally.
I think that's in your mind. You don't get a good enough look at him to make that judgement.

Dude is wearing leather gloves to start, so the likelihood of destructive amputation is significantly minimized. Also, given the firework only produced a cloud of smoke rather than a very loud percussive explosion, it's doubtful that it would cause any significant injury other than burns.

It's clearly staged (fake), but amusing...
