Fibrous Dysplasia, Polydactyly and Craniopagus: Human Deformities Photos
Wu Xiaoyan, a 22-year-old Chinese woman with a giant facial tumour caused by fibrous dysplasia, underwent surgery in Lishui, Zhejiang, in 2010. The operation lasted about 20 hours and was reported as the first of at least three planned procedures. It was performed at no charge. Fibrous dysplasia is a non-malignant bone condition linked to activating mutations in the GNAS gene that arise after conception. It can affect one or several bones and sometimes occurs as part of McCune-Albright syndrome. Polydactyly means having more than five fingers or toes on a limb. It can occur alone, run in families or accompany a syndrome. Extra digits are usually removed. |

Re: Fibrous Dysplasia, Polydactyly and Craniopagus: Human Deformities Photos
The first one is Polyostotic fibrous dysplasia. Second one is possibly elephantitis of some kind. Third one I do not have a clue. Forth one I believe is thalidomide poisoning (in the pregnant mother) First attached image is polydactyly. Second attached image is of conjoined twins. Think I am right on most of them but feel free to correct me! |
