Re: Female Smear Test (Pap Test)
I get the "virgin kit" as our GP calls it. Smaller and less sore! I tend to bleed as I've a "low cervix" (it's an anatomy thing, dwarling!). I'm due one soon - better shave my legs incase I'm sectretly filmed and put on YouTube |

Re: Female Smear Test (Pap Test)
Most doctors now use different instruments my friend told me. Smaller, some are plastic not metal and a lot more comfier. Still not nice though having a stranger fiddling between your legs. I hate them but make myself go as i friend of mine died from cervical cancer and she never got screened. |

Re: Female Smear Test (Pap Test)
Gemmylou, you really should go. It's worth a couple of seconds of discomfort for the peace of mind. I had abnormal pap smears, turned out to be pre cancerous cells. I had it taken care of and so far have been fine since, with regular check ups. You are much better getting checked. Cancer is awful. Why ignore the risk? |

Re: Female Smear Test (Pap Test)
Fortunately I was also able to choose the pediatric specula, so no significant discomfort and everything went fine. I had a female nurse practitioner who performed the test but I certainly wouldn't mind a handsome and gentle male doctor. In that case I could go to the screening every day |
