this is practiced because the people in thse cultures believe that if a woman annot feel pleasure during sexual acts she is less likely to cheat on her husband when she is married. Women are solely used for procreation in these countries and have little to no rights at all.
I know this because I have a friend from Nigeria who suffered through this as a child, the rest of her family fled and moved to Canada afterward. Her family was not even aware that this had been preformed on her.
