If it's depleted uranium that caused those birth defects (which is an outside possibly) then a simple test will show if that's the cause. Depleted uranium is very specific and shows on testing. It wouldn't suprise me that the claims aren't true and actually have their basis in deliberate lies spread from third party countries intelligence agencies (like Iran or Syria).

Well, me neither. With that said, the paper who first printed it is to be trusted, and still stands for the article (printed in '09 I believe). ('11 update).
