Re: The Faces Of Addiction - with Details!

What I don't get is... Some of these people were charged with shit that should have kept them in jail for a long time.. yet...the following year, there they are... free, getting wasted.. and arrested again...

Now I know you can turn informant over drug charges and they'll let shit slide... But didn't know you could assault cops... get arrested for grand theft/auto... and then could snitch your way out of that..

And this leaves me with this thought... I feel these people could have been saved early on - midway through.
When the courts see someone has a problem with substances? Why is it they turn the other cheek?
Toss em in jail and expect that to rid them of their problem..these people will get out of prison SOME day..
And when they are released.
Probation/parole or not... more than likely they will use again if left to their own devices.
Part of the sentence for people with a clear and apparent substance abuse problem should be a mandatory 2-3 month stay in a rehab AFTER their jail sentence... Get out of jail, your parole officer takes your ass to a van to go to bumfuck wherever in the middle of nowhere in your state...
It'll either work? or it won't... but I think it would be a bigger help than harm..

(I am an alcoholic/addict myself. I'm clean for over 5 and a half years now.. And yes. Jail was involved.
I asked the judge to send my ass to rehab at my sentencing..
Told me I would be sent to rehab AFTER I served my jail sentence.
3 months in jail, 2 months in rehab. been sober ever since. )

Re: The Faces Of Addiction - with Details!

Been there- thank god I got out. What a bummer to see these folks deteriorate. Looking back over my life, I can see the decline in myself. It's been almost ten years since I put down the booze, more than that for hard drugs. Just in time to age gracefully -i.e. fall apart, lol! You have to WANT to do it, for yourself, no other reason, or it's a no go. Selfish problem, selfish solution.

Re: The Faces Of Addiction - with Details!

I was a weekend warrior, but, only because I wanted great cheekbones.

Too high of a price though!

Even with the little I did, I had an ulcer in my nose, which I had skin grafted from my neck to fix.

I accepted the fact I have a big head.

Congratulations to all of you on your sobriety!

It's not easy. I lost all of my brothers to alcohol and the guy two doors down found out he has cirrhosis of the liver, but, still drinks. He is about to be kicked out by his girlfriend.

Sadly, he has a 4 year old. Two of my brothers had children and one had three grandchildren.

Such a helpless feeling to watch people destroy themselves.

Scary shit.

Also, people winding up in the system, their first arrest being due to cannabis and/or paraphernalia is beyond me.

Re: The Faces Of Addiction - with Details!

Drug abusing scum. Shame, I'd have definitely fired one up a couple of the girls before their addiction.

Sheesh it's obvious too they're strung out. Some of those girls were so pretty before.
