Re: Extensive Self Harm.
I'm sorry you are suffering from BPD, but it CAN be cured! I had it, met almost all the criteria, more than the specific number that were needed for the diagnosis, now I meet none of them. Therapy and medications saved me! Personalities are unchangeable, that is why BPD should have a different name. It is a mood disorder, and many professionals agree that it should be renamed. Best of luck to you!

Re: Extensive Self Harm.
Yeah, I agree; im amazed to hear that you were cured, thats fantastic news! Its weird that its not even classed as a mental health disorder, because it doesnt present the way bi-polar does, with the manic episodes and the crashing lows which follow it. The illness itself used to be called "manic depression" for many years; however "bi-polar" is far more correct as people who have it literally "flip poles" if you get me? Im glad to hear youre better now |

Re: Extensive Self Harm.
From another perspective -- for me, the physical pain actually released a lot of emotional / psychological pain. I never went at it like this. When I got dragged to the ER the last time for hanging up on a crisis worker I mentioned this to the social worker. He was like 'why did you stop' (I haven't done it in a while). I just laugh and think, 'Is he encouraging slicing myself up instead of taking a months' worth of Klonapin?' Little backwater town I live in the are legally obligated to take me to the ER, but they never do anything. No admittance, nothing. What a screwed up world, eh? Guess I need to find the scalpels I bought off ebay. |

Re: Extensive Self Harm.
He was probably pointing out the fact that you are a little bitch that couldn't finish the job. On top of that, you wasted his time, and the time of everyone at the ER. The only way is gets worse is if you don't have insurance, then the government (I.E.- the taxpayers) funded your little visit. Actually that is a good idea...either finish what you started, or stop wasting everyone's time and money. |

Re: Extensive Self Harm.
The part I dont understand is why would you "wear" this stuff, almost like a badge of honour, by putting the pictures on the internet? For me it was personal, I certainly didnt "advertise" what I was doing. Maybe by sharing these photos, its her way of reaching out to (hopefullly) someone who can really help her? I just dont see any other reason for sharing the pics: although you do have a captive audience on the internet for sure. Some of the photos look like body modification, the "butterfly" and some of the wounds/scars almost look artistic? Maybe shes just a good old fashioned blood fetish fan, and theres nothing "mentally" wrong? |
