Re: Extensive Self Harm.
Me having kids doesn't mean I need to show empathy for completely frown adults who choose to do idiotic things. You entire argument here is flawed.

Re: Extensive Self Harm.
Its not as cut and dried as that (excuse the pun); her pathology is MUCH more savage than mere attention seeking. Borderline Personality Disorder/dissociative identity disorder more likely. Being able to disassociate yourself from your actions makes it easier to do these things to yourself, because you believe it isnt "you" doing it, if you get me? Its like having an alter ego, another person inside you who carries out such abhorrent acts. Ive read accounts of people who self-harm like this, and theyve said they go into a sort of trance, and the alter ego takes over. When they come out of their trance, theyre as shocked as anyone at the damage theyve inflicted on themselves. Its almost like somebody else has done it to them. Hard to get your head round isnt it? Ive got Borderline Personality Disorder/DID but I wasnt a cutter, but I did abuse myself in different ways, drug abuse, alcohol abuse. It manifests itself in many different ways; cutting is one of them. People like this tend to be very extreme in everything they do, theres no "middle ground" with them, its all or nothing. Also coupled with the fact that they probably have an addictive personality and theyre a seething cauldron of negativity. I know because Ive been there. So you see, its easy to fob people off, but when you scratch below the surface you will find that things arent as black and white as they first seem. For sure there are "emo" attention seekers, but they arent in the same league as people like this girl. Theres a lot of hate in her, and that hate gets directed at herself. Its very sad. Sorry for the long post, but its not always possible to explain things monosyllabically.

Re: Extensive Self Harm.
Because as an adult unless she chooses to be admitted she cant be forced to undergo psychiatric help; believe it or not if she declares that she isnt a suicide case she cant be sectioned forcefully. Crazy eh? I know that in the UK two signatures are required to section someone: one has to be a doctor and the other signatory has to be next of kin.
