Escalator Accident, Beijing Zoo Subway
At 9:36am, July 05 2011, a serious accident happened on the escalator at the Beijing Zoo subway station on Line 4. According to local news reports, the accident injured 28 people, and included one fatality (a seven year old boy) and two serious injuries. The other 26 sustained light injuries. Most of the victims were transferred to nearby Renmin Hospital, with another group treated at Wujing Eryuan Hospital.

One injured woman told a reporter that she was using the escalator to leave the station when the escalator suddenly reversed course and all the people on the escalator lurched backwards and fell.
