Re: Dying In A Prison Hospice

So prisoners get better treatment at the end than those in nursing homes. Nice.
Generally speaking, prisoners do better than the poor. Three meals, free medical, a place to sleep and although not always great, out of the elements.

Something is terribly wrong with the world!

Re: Dying In A Prison Hospice

That's why I stopped working at the nursing home I did work at. I loved my job don't get me wrong, but the other people who worked there and even the facility owners didn't care.
My wife worked at several different ones when we lived in the UK, and she found most of them to be depressing, miserable, unfriendly places. Some were outright nasty and disrespectful to patients.

Not the place an old person should have to spend the last few years of their life.

Re: Dying In A Prison Hospice

Many Americans have come to consider the prison system an industry based on the amount of people locked up, thus, creating an opportunity (lots of jobs) for making a living out of it.

It is kinda sad when you consider that it costs around $50,000 annually to keep an inmate incarcerated and then you consider the amount of inmates locked up. Again, it seems more like an industry than a justice system to many.

Re: Dying In A Prison Hospice

Having the bible read to you depending on the person is like pouring water into a basket... after the water is gone the basket is that much cleaner.
