Oh! Mangoworms!! I first saw these in a bird rescue video and read up on them. IIRC they're "harmless" in that they don't cause anything besides itching, but of course the immune system reaction can cause swelling and pain and in some cases tachycardia, and of course, I mean, there's something leaving holes in your skin so infection can happen too if you don't rinse the wounds once they're removed. Also the itching can lead to insomnia if you don't load up on benadryl. ;) But yeah! They're tiny when they hatch and you don't know if they've burrowed into you or any other critter until they get bigger.
