Dislocated Fingers

This patient lost her balance and fell backwards sustaining a dislocation of 2 of her fingers. X-rays were obtained and there were no fractures. After a digital block with lidocaine the digits were reduced with simple traction.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeouch internal dislocations make me shiver more than compound injuries, the angles are just wrong!

Wow, the patient sounds so calm even before the numbing. That must have sucked to experience, though it must have also been so satisfying when the fingers popped back into place!

I think instead of a local, I'd have wanted a nice fat IV push of morphine.
