Re: Disfigured Babies Pt. 1

What a shame. I remember looking through a book on foetal abnormalities/deformities in the hospital I worked in and it was unreal

Want to see some amazingly messed-up stuff? Nab yourself a copy of Smith's Recognizable Patterns of Human Malformation 6th Ed. It is my favorite book ever.

Re: Disfigured Babies Pt. 1

The next to the last pic is an acardius monster. There is NO heart -and NO anything else from the waist up. If there ever was a head it was resorbed long ago. It fed off its normal twin, perhaps killing it from heart failure.

Some are only heads attached to umbilical cords, and some are just scrambled tissue. No two are alike and the classification is awkward at best.

Re: Disfigured Babies Pt. 1

The last one is a baby turned into stone. It died in the womb and the body's immune response formed a layer of stone around it. If broken away, the fetus is well preserved, tho it may have been there for years or decades.
