That's really interesting...My father died from diabetes related complications, and something like that might have helped him live longer  |

The only thing maggots would have prevented is the doctor having to debride it. The problem with diabetes is that it impedes blood flow to the extremities--so even if we remove the dead tissue, if you don't have good blood flow, you're not going to heal. At my hospital, vascular doctors like to do 2-8 revascularization attempts before we just take the damn leg anyway. |
