Re: Depeleted Uranium Baby All But Dead
Sorry, all, but this doesn't have a darn thing to do with radiation at all. It's a rare and lethal genetic condition called Neu-Laxova Syndrome. Look it up if you wish. "Infants with this syndrome have microcephaly, sloping forehead, protruding eyes with absent lids, flat nose, gaping mouth, thick lips, scaling skin with severe edema, extreme puffiness of hands and feet, and joint contractures." There's a picture in Smith's "Recognizable Patterns of Human Malformation" that looks just like this one. No radiation involved; it's an autosomal recessive condition, meaning both parents must carry this particular rare genetic defect. |

Re: Depeleted Uranium Baby All But Dead
It is not fake. And yes, prenatal scans would show it. However, there are people who choose to carry the pregnancy to term anyway. And there are lots and lots of mothers who don't get prenatal scans. Yes, it could very well survive till birth. The babies with this condition usually die within a few hours of birth because their lungs and other organs are defective, but you don't need lungs in the uterus. |
