Re: Decubitus Ulcer on An Elderly Woman's Buttocks
Yes it's considered battery if you do something to someone who doesn't want it. That's why they need to get permission before doing things to the elderly in rest homes. And rightfully so, can you imagine someone moving you when you didn't want it, or showering you? That would define horrible for me. Need my personal space.

And suicide isn't illegal. Fuck man, if people were in control of my meds, my food, my water, I'd probably do something stupid to die too! Well, if she did do it on purpose. Whatever man, this shit is just fucking heart breaking any way! |

She may have just given up on Life and wanted out. She may have no longer seen the point of continually greater efforts to sustain a continually decreasing quality of Life with Death as the inevitable end anyway. Sometimes it's just best to leave. Sometimes it's just time to leave. |

Re: Decubitus Ulcer on An Elderly Woman's Buttocks
Once it got super bad she wanted them to make it better. She refused to do anything to prevent it and once it was impossible to reverse she wanted it fixed. There's a group called Family Choice that works in the facility that my mom doesn't work for but it friendly with the social worker, who texted my mom the pic to ask her advice. She knew of the patient because of the floor she's on (the facility isn't huge) but didn't take care of her. |

I've seen wonders with wound vacuums. Aggressive debridement (cutting off the dead tissue),antibiotics for the infection,a diet high in protein, side to side positioing might have done the trick. She probably had infection IN the bone (osteomyelitis) The lady I mentioned in my previous post did,she has since died.
