Dead Deformed Baby, Probably Has Anencephaly

Looks like Anencephalic, yet whatever it is, I'm pretty sure the child was in pain until they died.

Anencephaly is the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp that occurs during embryonic development. It is a cephalic disorder that results from a neural tube defect that occurs when the rostral (head) end of the neural tube fails to close, usually between the 23rd and 26th day following conception.

Strictly speaking, the Greek term translates as "no in-head" (that is, totally lacking the inside part of the head, i.e., the brain), but it is accepted that children born with this disorder are in fact usually only lacking a telencephalon, the largest part of the brain consisting mainly of the cerebral hemispheres, including the neocortex, which is responsible for cognition. The remaining structure is usually covered only by a thin layer of membrane— skin, bone, meninges, etc. are all lacking. With very few exceptions, infants with this disorder do not survive longer than a few hours or possibly days after their birth.

I would absolutely hate this to happen to me. Wonder if the parents saw the baby after.

Re: Dead Deformed Baby, Probably Has Anencephaly

The human body is truly amazing, the way we go from two single cells, unseen by the human eye, to a living breathing human in just 9 short months is just amazing! Just one wrong thing, one wrong gene, one wrong "signal" or "pathway" and things can go terribly wrong as in this poor bub's case. Anyone with "normal" children are blessed, I know I am, as are many others, but poor bubs like this, I think makes us appreciate what we have (no matter how annoying they can be sometimes!!). My heart goes out to any parents out there dealing with such tragedies, I could not begin to imagine what you may be going through......
