Fireworks were banned here in Australia years ago when a kid at my school thought it would be funny to put a "penny Banger" (very large fire cracker) in a kids back pocket, it blew half his ass off, within two weeks all penny bangers were banned and slowly we ended up with nothing but those stupid sparklers.
People lost eyes in bottle rocket fights, which I had partaken many times in, using safety glasses, great fun.
Of course when you ban something it only gives those with sinister minds (me) reasons to defy the laws and create even more dangerous items such as my 1" diameter plumbing pipe with welded pistol grip, an end cap with a hole in it (for the wick) a party popper was filled with gun powder and placed in the end cap then a "tom bowler" (large marble) placed down the barrel.....light the wick and BOOOOM! I blew a hole in a kids playground steel tube slide, was awesome, of course people copied and improved my design and they were consequently banned also, by that time it didn't matter because I was old enough to get my shooter lisence, I had autos semi autos levers pumps you name it, then Martin Bryant reared his fucked up head and I lost the lot.
All I have now is an Anshutz .222 bolt with russian military night vision and red dot sight and a Maverick model 90 12 guage magnum.............boring.
