Cutaneous Lichtenberg Figures: Lightning Strike Scars
Cutaneous Lichtenberg figures are fern-like, nonburn skin marks considered characteristic of lightning exposure. Their precise mechanism is unknown, but they may result from damage to or leakage from small blood vessels as electrical current passes over the skin. They occur mostly on moist skin. The marks usually appear within an hour, cause no symptoms and fade within 48 hours, so they generally are not lasting scars. They require no treatment themselves, although thermal burns can occur with the same lightning exposure. Georg Christoph Lichtenberg first described the figures in 1777. |

Oh, the cow picture is sad. The woman in the hideous bra with the chest scars...that is really pretty. Nature is awesome... I'm sure it hurt like a son-of-a-bitch... |
