Craniofacial Cleft: Child With a Severe Facial Cleft
Craniofacial clefts are rare congenital malformations in which parts of the face develop with clefts of varying severity. Midline forms affect the central face and can occur with eye abnormalities, including microphthalmia, or unusually small eyes. The estimated incidence is 1.4 to 6.0 per 100,000 live births. Treatment usually involves surgery in several stages, including moving tissue and grafting bone. Care may involve a team of plastic surgeons, neurosurgeons and ophthalmologists. |

Looks like a severe facial cleft plus ectropion (eyelid problem) and untreated hydrocephalus. http://www.eyecalcs.com/DWAN/pages/v7/ch041/022f.html At least her folks are caring for her. |

Poor thing, I hope she gets the care she deserves. Tini, if it was your child I'm sure you would feel different
