Re: CPR on Woman That Was Swept Away by the Waves While Taking Pics at the Beach
Both completely normal with CPR. It's more common for people to use too little pressure than too much. The sternum and ribs will heal, but the brain without bloodflow and oxygen eventually will not. If you feel the sternum or ribs breaking and grinding, you keep going. You're there to save a life, not to give a massage. The only time you should worry about the amount of pressure is if it's a child you're giving CPR to, let alone a baby. These have their own techniques to avoid putting too much pressure (using only one hand for children and two fingers for infants, depending on your strength). |

Re: CPR on Woman That Was Swept Away by the Waves While Taking Pics at the Beach
I have a friend whose roommate went into cardiac arrest recently. They put a machine on him and broke several ribs. I fully understand that when trying to save a life injury is secondary to saving that life. If they live it’ll heal in time. Better to be alive and broken than dead. I was being sarcastic when I said what I did. Thank you though for actually explaining to me. I learned from it. |

Okay, I didn't realize that it was sarcasm. I just always feel that it's my responsibility to correct this kind of stuff, because you never know who will read these messages and translate what they read into real life when someone else's survival depends on it.

Sarcasm is nearly impossible to figure out cause you can’t hear the tone in what’s being said in writing. *I forgive you this once. ;) {can you hear it there?} I do appreciate your quoting me all the same. I actually did learn something and am always thankful for a lesson in life, however or wherever it comes from. It sometimes sucks admitting that you’re wrong but growth isn’t always easy. Thanks for the words. |
