Tension prevailed at Jipmer as a Coronavirus patient allegedly attempted to commit suicide in the COVID ward late on Tuesday afternoon. The 51-year-old Velmurugan, a native of Puducherry hanged himself from the grill of the staircase. On noticing this, he was immediately lifted up by hospital staff and is now on a ventilator. Depression is suspected to be the cause for Velmurugan's attempt to end his life.  |
