Tree man's growths were caused by long term untreated human papilloma virus. I forget what the actual growths were called, but it was some other long ass weird name.

I looked up the name of the tree man's affliction:
"Epidermodysplasia verruciformis"
so it's different than this little boy's..however it does look similar to HPV in a way.
