This is the moment a basketball stand collapsed on a man as he made a dunk at a fitness centre in eastern China.

In the CCTV clip, shot in Hangzhou City in Zhejiang Province on Tuesday (July 17), the basketball stand falls on the man’s head, pinning him to the floor, after he jumped up to land a shot and hung off the basket.

His two friends can be seen going to try to lift the stand up immediately. More people come to help free the man.

According to reports, the man was a staff member at the fitness centre while the basketball stand had just been moved to the centre and its installation had not been completed.

The man would go back to work after surgery and some rest, local media reported an HR manager at the fitness centre of saying.
