Re: The Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq
What passing-bells for these who die as cattle? ****Only the monstrous anger of the guns. ****Only the stuttering rifles' rapid rattle Can patter out their hasty orisons. No mockeries for them from prayers or bells, ****Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,— The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells; ****And bugles calling for them from sad shires. -- Wilfred Owen |

Re: The Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq
Hey world that says America is an unjust money hungry bloodthirsty whore? See the "insurgents" in those pictures? That's right.. We even attempt to heal those who intend to harm us.. But I will agree, we put our noses in places they don't belong at times.. And drone killings of innocents is just plain wrong.. And since I said all of that? I support the troops, they only do as ordered.. And I thank them for it. But the cause behind their orders?? nope.. that's all political. The war pictured in the original post for instance. Iraq from 2002 - present (We're out, yet still there.) I look at that as a "Blood for oil" war.. American blood for Iraqi oil.. And Bush Jr. saying - "Hey Dad? I finished what you started! That entire war was in vain.. more people died on both sides than need be. and was no way out of it once it started. Afghanistan on the other hand? we needed to do that.. That was all because of 9/11.. The Taliban and Al-Qaeda/ Bin Laden, had to go... Syria? I believe we should have done more than we have, I'm not saying put soldiers on ground, but maybe help out with air support or something.. If you seen any of the Syria vids on here alone? you know that place went to hell in a hand basket.. and fast... Mainly was against the war in Iraq, Enduring Freedom was a bitch.. we lost way too many people there. And for what? Just to hang Saddam? A lot of good that did everyone.. (Well, him getting messed up because hung wrong was kind of cool.) |

Re: The Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq
I am a researcher working on traumatic brain injury and PTSD in veterans. At a conference on Neurocritical Care a few years ago, an Army Colonel (Commander of the "Baghdad ER") gave a slide show that had been made by the doctors and nurses there. In a room full of trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, military doctors and researchers used to seeing horrific head injuries, there was not a single dry eye in the room; 300 MD's, RN's. and Ph.D's with wet faces stunned into silence, awe and respect. The survival rate there was incredible; in the 85-95% range. Everyone stood and applauded. Thank you all who serve.

Re: The Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad, Iraq
Those soldiers saving lives are primarily doctors (nurses, medics etc). Can you imagine the trauma and psychological damage they go through every day treating these kind of injuries? Now imagine ordering them to put their compassion aside and not treat all humans in need, and how that would destroy their souls. Watch MASH, all the episodes. They deal with this topic rather well.
