Colloidal Silver Usage
The effect of the so-called "folk medicine". (USA). In the US, among people who support alternative medicine, "treatment" with colloidal silver is now in vogue. It is believed that metallic silver dispersed in a liquid medium is effective in preventing colds and flu, and also cures more serious diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Of course, this is all nonsense and evidence-based medicine does not fix getting rid of ailments in the treatment of colloidal silver. And here's the side effect. The fact is that silver ions are a poisonous heavy metal that does not participate in the body's metabolism in any way, can accumulate in organs and cause argyria, darkening of the skin. Here is a recent example from South Dakota. Blue loves to heal with colloidal silver. The couple took Argentum solutions for just over two years. Silver itself, by the way, is still excreted from the body, but for a very long time - for 250 years, subject to a complete refusal to take it. |

Re: Colloidal Silver Usage
Yeah, I love these "alternative" medicine idiots. For one, they always insist their treatments will cure all manner of illness that have zero related pathologies. Cure alls cure nothing. I'm not sure if it is desperation, misinformation, mistrust of science, or a combination of them. A lot of times it is also people peddling expensive "cures" to people to make lots of money from desperate people. Like a lot of the quack cancer cures such as coffee enemas, antineoplastons, etc. There are some interesting resources for people interested in these types of topics: Sawbones is a podcast that looks at bad and quack medical treatments throughout history. It is fairly light and covers more of the history of diseases and their treatments. Doesn't tend to go that deep. Is at times not critical enough of some of the crap treatments that are invading western medicine. The Skeptics Guide to the Universe tends to go much deeper and be more critical of some of these things. They do a lot of pieces on medical treatments, but cover all things science, technology, and skepticism related. I highly recommend both. |

Re: Colloidal Silver Usage
bet they swallowed it by the gallon and bought it from someone brewing it in a garage for those 2 years. I sometimes use it as cream after skin damage for extra help to fight micro organisms that could enter the wound. |
