I'm allergic to macrolide antibiotics. Have a way worse reaction when I was a young lad.

What particular antibiotics are in that category, just out of pure dumb curiosity? I'm limited in my choices, Sulfa antibiotics give me hives, and penicillins send me into anaphylaxis.

What particular antibiotics are in that category, just out of pure dumb curiosity? I'm limited in my choices, Sulfa antibiotics give me hives, and penicillins send me into anaphylaxis.
It was Erythromycin that got me when I was a kid. The inflammation it cause essentially paralyzed me for 24 hours from the waist down. Glad I was 4. The doctor said next time I wouldn't be so lucky

I think my mother said I was like this after penicillin, along with the fact that I started swelling up like a balloon. Had to get a shot of epinephrine!
Same thing with one of my older brothers. His arm literally looked like a balloon after being given penicillin by mistake when he was a toddler. His arm now looks like it has port wine stain from wrist to shoulder.

I had something similar to this a few years back from Cephalexin. They diagnosed me with Stevens Johnson syndrome.
