Not fake. Seen one very similar in a medical textbook. Developmental failure of the parts of the fetus that form the lower jaw and associated structures. Because the lower jaw does not form, there is nothing to push the ears out to their normal place on the side of the head. These babies don't survive... they usually have other birth defects as well, and it usually isn't possible to put a breathing tube in because of the malformations of the mouth and jaw.
