Also, I'm digging the catcher's mitt/bucket for the afterbirth... That's pretty cool, around here they just get a big stainless steel mixing type bowl to catch the placenta in.

Re: Child Birth at the Hospital

Fuck that shitty episiotomy they've given her. Highly medicalised birth and unless there was and emergency, totally unnecessary.
Ugh. I'm never having sex again. Well, unless its with you.♥

Re: Child Birth at the Hospital

Feel bad for her bf/hubby though...
Hey doc? Wanna put a few extra stitches in there?
Yes, because we all know that the most important thing in life is the pleasure of men. I feel sorry for HER to have a ruined vagina, not for her husband. He's not the one who's going to have to deal with painful stitches, potential prolapse, hemorrhoids, and likely urinary incontinence. Oh, and are you aware that the so-called "husband stitch" after childbirth is often done WITHOUT the consent of the woman, by old school male doctors who put the pleasure of their fellow men before the comfort of the mother? Are you aware that the husband stitch often results in tremendously painful sex for the woman until her next childbirth undoes the suture?

Re: Child Birth at the Hospital

That baby had a huge head....
I think the episiotomy was a rational decision on the doctor's part.
As for the grasping and ripping at the baby to get em out?
That's pretty common in most childbirths I've witnessed.
They've all got heads that big. That's why vaginas stretch over the course of labour.
The doctor cut her to get her to give birth quicker. Uneccessary most likely, and also dangerous for the baby as moving down the birth canal is essential to remove fluid from the lungs. If they don't get the time they need, they can be born with low Apgr scores requiring yet MORE medicalisation and interrupting of the bonding process.

Also, just because you've seen something done frequently doesn't make it right. Doctors have dislocated joints and broken bones by pulling babies out. Babies have also died by internal decapitation via this method. Google it. Heartbreaking.

Again, unless it turned into a medical emergency when the baby was too descended for a c-section, this delivery is old fashioned and barbaric.

Re: Child Birth at the Hospital

The birth of my first son was like this. Poor little 20 year old me. I had been in labour for just a few hours short of 3 days and instead of giving me a straight forward c-section when things got scary (my son's heart rate kept dropping), the doctor cut me open, shoved forceps inside, put both feet up on the delivery table for leverage, and pulled until blood shot out at him and my son finally came out... with big nasty bruises on his face and head. I didn't sit upright for 10 days. He's 15 now and just three years ago I finally found the courage to have everything repaired. My second son was born via c-section. As for feeling sorry for the husband - Fuck you. Besides, scar tissue heals up tighter than soft tissue.

Re: Child Birth at the Hospital

It's shitty because it goes straight down instead of to the side, and appears to be about 3" long. All for the doctor's convenience.
fuck me....are you anti-established medicine or something? an episiotomy is not "all for the doctor's convenience." These days they are not done routinely as they have been in the past. When i was a med student i rotated with an OB doc that was old school and would snip one so that baby would come out faster and he could get the hell outta there and go home....in that case, yes it was all for his convenience. i didn't realize it then but looking back at my time with him he did do a lot of things that docs training these days are taught never to do. however, the teaching today is NOT to do them routinely and they are only done if it is necessary. the mnemonic taught for shoulder dystocia is HELPERR, with the first "e" standing for "Evaluate for Episiotomy" and that is one of the very few times it is considered.

mind you, i am speaking from the point of view of practicing in the US. rates vary by country and approach 100% in other countries. in the US the trend was around 61% in 1979 with reviews in 2012 finding the rate around 12%. at present time ACOG, the governing body of OBGYN, supports restricted use of episiotomy (only when absolutely necessary) instead of routine.

from reading this post and a few others of yours i gotta ask: you mad bro? have a grudge against some doctor somewhere that did you wrong? i dont agree with all things in medicine and i practice that shit every day. its an ever changing beast and with new evidence, guidelines, studies and findings emerging more and faster than ever its gonna keep changing. dont like it? stay home and rub some honey and essential oil on your body when you get meningoencephalitis. no one is forcing you to go to a hospital or see a doctor. doctors are human, not perfect and make mistakes too, just like everyone else

Especially when it comes to capitalization and punctuation, apparently.

Re: Child Birth at the Hospital

My friends wife has had 4 C-Sections for their 5 kids (1 pair of twins). I suspect he has her do the C-section to keep her cunt tight...
