Check Your Arrows.

A few years back my son and I were target shooting in the yard using carbon arrows. We had shot one and it hit a piece of metal in the backstop we were using fracturing it . Stupidly , I didnt flex it or check it for fractures before I used it again. So I loaded it up , drew back , and upon release it exploded . Ended up with shards of it embedded in my hand. Surprisingly , it didn't hurt to bad until they went to pull it out. Fuck carbon arrows.

No , it seemed to have missed the important stuff. Other than a couple of small puncture scars nothing permanent. It looks alot more horrific than it actually was.

I'd say you're damn lucky all things considered.

Re: Check Your Arrows.

Yea lucky it looks like it only went through the meat. I accidentally drilled through my finger before and luckily it went through the lower, palm side part of my ring finger, only through meat and skin. I had to reverse the drill to back it out so it wouldn't yank or tear the skin. Surprisingly I never got medical attention for it and now you can't really even tell it happened. I've always been pretty lucky about avoiding infections whenever I've had any Burns cuts or punctures that I just allowed to heal on their own without medical attention. I couldn't make a tight fist for a while without pain but now it looks normal and I almost forget it even happened because there's no lasting pain or discomfort from scar tissue or anything.

Re: Check Your Arrows.

Too bad I didn't take a picture of it in the moment I'm not good at thinking about that stuff to be honest. I do have a picture of when I accidentally sliced my patellar tendon beneath my kneecap by putting my knee through glass. It's not super cool or gnarly but maybe all upload it at some point.
