This young man presented with swelling of his left foot with a large blister over dorsum of foot.He is a known diabetic with uncontrolled blood sugar.The swelling was there for 7 days and blood sugar was more than 300 mg percentage.
On examination there was redness of his left foot extending above ankle joint up to mid part of tibia.There was associated edema of left lower leg, difficulty in walking.There was a big blister over dorsum of foot.
This man requires foot debridement,sending blister fluid for culture and sensitivity.
Dressing of wound,Broad spectrum antibiotics to start with and shifting to specific antibiotics as per culture report. Keeping the affected leg elevated reduces the swelling.Active physiotherapy of left ankle joint as soon as swelling reduces.Blood sugar control is essential with insulin therapy.
This wound heals with proper management in a span of a week or two.
