yeah very rarely would they have to open the wrist like that, maybe if the nerve was cut and it needed to be repaired. otherwise its just the small incision.

Seems so invasive and extreme-- and a common problem!
Carpal Tunnel is also treatable with cortisone injections but the results from surgeries can last for years, injections every 3-6 months if I remember correctly, and they are PAINFUL.
