Burns In A Nutshell
A burn is damage to the skin and, depending on the degree, can affect deeper tissues and organs. Caused by heat, corrosive chemicals, electricity and UV radiation Types of burns: Thermal Chemical Electric Radiation Characteristics degrees of burns: I level - is characterized by erythema, swelling and soreness at the site of injury  First degree burn due to carelessness in a Solarium Second degree - is characterized by erythema, edema, blisters appear with serous fluid  This second degree burn was caused by hot oil Third degree - is characterized by the color of pearl white, greyish white to brown the skin is hard and dry with lack of sensation  Cause not given IV stage - characterized by charring and tissue necrosis with lack of sensation  Fourth degree burn due to electrocution Severe burns that require urgent medical attention: 1. Second stage over 10% of body surface 2. Face, hands, feet, genitals, perineum or within the large joints 3. Third degree in each age group 4. Electric shock including lightning 5. Chemical 6. Respiratory tract |
