Burning Man on Side of Road Dies, Men Recording May Go to Jail

He makes footage of a man dying in a fire to send him to “Welcome to favelas”: investigated for failure to rescue

The accident on the Grande Raccordo Anulare in Rome dates back to last February 6
"A zi did you pijato foco? ..... Listen, I call my mom.' This is one of the phrases you hear in the video that portrays a car on fire on the Great Annular Ax. The scene dates back to February 6th. And inside the cockpit of the Volkswagen Golf there is a man. That he will die from the burns on March 24. In the video you can see the man approaching on the right side of the roadway. He comes out of the car with his clothes on fire. The two who shoot the video don't even stop. The passenger says, ‘We send this to Welcome to favelas.’ That is, a Facebook and Instagram page to which audio and video contributions are sent on the ‘everyday degradation’ in cities. Then the driver accelerates and the footage stops. And it ends up online. But shortly after the page managers decide to remove the video. Meanwhile, the burned man ends up in the hospital, where the doctors try, unsuccessfully, to save his life. Family members want justice. They denounce everything, the Roman edition of Repubblica tells today. Public Minister Silvia Salemi opens a file for omission of relief. Substitute Clara De Cecilia investigates to understand the causes of the accident. And he entrusts everything to an expert.

Rome, the relatives of the man who died after the fire of his car on the Gra: ‘Whoever shot the footage was inhuman’

He died in hospital as a result of burns on March 24. But his story became famous for a video posted on “Welcome to Favelas”
His name was F.S. and he was 53 years old the man who died at the stake of his Volkswagen Golf on the Great Annular Rjunction in Rome. He lived in the province of Arezzo. He died in hospital as a result of burns on March 24. But his story became famous for a video posted on “Welcome to Favelas.” In which you can see S. on fire as he gets out of the burning car. A movie published and then deleted from the community's online resources. And it would testify, according to relatives, that in the death of the man there was an omission of rescue. Just that of those who shot the video with mocking phrases (‘A zi hai pijato foco? ..... Listen, I call my mom.') But that February 6th on the Pipe Fitting did not intervene in any way. The investigation was opened, independently, by public minister Clara De Cecilia. And he did it against unknowns. Francesco's relatives tell La Stampa today that an immediate call could have made the intervention of the 118 helicopter that then transported the man to the Sant'Eugenio hospital in red code more timely. M., S.'s sister says that "it was reprehensible behavior. Today we are the ones who have to live this situation. But in other similar cases exactly the same thing happened: this indifference is also the daughter of a society that through social media spectacularizes everything. People lose the coordinates between truth and fiction. Not having the tools to understand, they don't even realize what they're doing. Or rather, I hope they didn't realize it, otherwise it would be even more serious. Inhuman, I would say.'

Failure to rescue for many people, not just the cameraman.

It's about time someone who decides to just film and not help gets held accountable for their non-action.

I don't think people should be legally required to render aid to those in need. In this case these people recording should not be charged. They are dealing with several deadly situations, the fire and the car which is on fire that could explode. To stop and approach would be reckless. The guy on fire like people drowning it is not advised for untrained people to approach them in a panicked state they could injure or kill a good samaritan trying to save themselves. Lastly stoping without proper lights and backup on a busy highway a lot of times ends in collisions from on coming traffic.

I don't understand why people don't at least try to save someone, if they can?

In the video you can see the man approaching on the right side of the roadway. He comes out of the car with his clothes on fire.
Didn't see that but he's approaching the burning car and behind him a gas can? Did he set himself on fire and the car?
Why would you go into the direction of a burning car when you're on fire instead of trying to put out the fire by drop and roll or frantically running around.

I agree. He's going towards the car in what seems a very calm manner too.
