I have a friend called Helen who is a self-harmer. She cut one of her arms very deep so her Mum took her to the hospital for stitches. When the nurse found out it was a self-inflicted wound, she stitched it so badly that Helen was in more pain afterwards than she had been when she sliced her arm. When her Mum saw the crappy job the nurse had done she went mad and took her daughter to another hospital. At that hospital they were horrified at the botched stitches and advised that Helen should think about making a serious complaint about the nurse. It turned out that the nurse thought if she stitched Helen up really badly, she wouldn't self harm any more. Turned out it made Helen worse. Her Mum is suing.
