Brown Recluse Spider Bite Pictures: Suspected Bites and Mimics
A brown recluse spider bite may initially feel like a sting or cause no immediate sensation. Pain can develop within hours, followed by a reddish or purplish ring. In serious cases, a black eschar may form and slough away after about 2 to 5 weeks, leaving an ulcer that can take months to heal and may produce a deep scar. Many skin conditions can resemble a spider bite. True brown recluse lesions are usually single, dry, flat or sunken, and less than 10 centimeters across. Pus, drainage or multiple lesions point toward another cause. Lesions falsely attributed to spider bites are usually community-acquired MRSA infections, and in most reported cases no spider was seen or collected. · · · · · · |

I dated someone who was bitten by one and had the necrotic tissue loss. She has horrible scarring where the injury occurred years after the fact. The brown recluse is one nasty little mofo.
