The day after I left was his first back on duty since deployment. That very morning he was hit by a car as he walked crossed the street to his command post. The woman who hit him was a military police officer on duty. She claimed the sun was in her eyes and that she didn't see him as she came through a stop sign. Broke his tibia, fibula, ankle, and sheered off a piece of bone inside his shoulder. Disolcated both his ankle and shoulder, severe road rash, and concussion. It was the worst call I never expected to hear! I thought once he was back from Afghanistan I could stop worrying.. boy was I wrong! I took the first flight back and made it to the hospital as he was waking from surgery. The accident ruined his career in the military. He was once a mortar man and a lead physical trainer, he was exteremly physically fit. But it's taken him nearly 2 solid years to recover and he only has partial use of his shoulder, chronic pain in all the affected bones, and PTSD. He's a completely different person than he once was, it's been so sad to watch! He left the military because he was no longer able to be a part of the infantry and is now pursing a career as a police officer." /> The day after I left was his first back on duty since deployment. Broken Leg/Dislocated Ankle

My boyfriend spent a year in Afghanistan at a remote combat outpost that was under attack on a nearly daily basis. He made it through deployment with only minor wounds and came home alive. I flew up to his Army base to surprise him and welcome him home-
