Re: Broken Bones Compilation
I recently had a level 5 tibial plateau fracture. 18 days in hospital, 2 surgeries (1 was external pins and rods to hold the bones in place while the swelling reduced, and the 2nd was to put in 2 plates and ~13 screws to pin my tibia back together), now I have 3 months in a brace from thigh to ankle, and it will be 3 months before I walk on that leg again. I'm going back to the hospital today so I'll see if I can get a print of the initial x-rays showing the break. I have a heap of photos that I could share but I want the one of the break to add in too. I'm surprised I didn't take any photos of my leg when I broke it! When I go in to shock I get really sensible, I just called an ambulance and waited patiently trying to move, and stayed off my phone/phone camera to preserve battery life haha. My lower leg looked like a zig-zag. It was crazy. |

Re: Broken Bones Compilation
Applying too much pressure while twisting, snaps the bone. It's not meant to take that kind of pressure. I've only seen breaks, not dislocations. |

Re: Broken Bones Compilation
Friend's band was playing at a bar one night.. went with, got sloshed.. get home, realized I left a six pack in the guitarist car, along with my house keys. So.. munchies set in while I was locked out of my house. RAN drunk full speed around the corner and 2 blocks downhill, leap and jump to clear a gap.. land on the palm of my left hand and slid for about 6 feet. Where I landed also just happened to be the parking lot of my destination, dunkin donuts.. Got up, road rash, and my left hand didn't work.. still went in and got my food anyways.. bleeding etc. ... Worker looked at me like he saw a ghost or something. went home, kicked in my front door. ate and passed out.. Next day.. I awaken.. OWCH. Knew I had to get to the hospital but couldn't even tie my shoes.. Walk to pay phone across the street, call that "friend" to ask someone to come tie my shoes. His girlfriend sends her younger brother.. 3 hours at the hospital later.. displaced intra-articular fracture of the distal radius. Told me I needed a cast..said..nope... made them put it into a splint.. no way was I dealing with a cast.. between not being able to clean the area, scratch it, whatever it... would freak me the hell out. (yes, I have an anxiety disorder too. And what bad timing for all of this? I was scheduled to move from my apartment like 4 days after I broke the wrist.. But I still had my drunken breakfast sandwiches from drunkin donuts.. |

Re: Broken Bones Compilation
I busted my right kneecap pretty bad once. There an old, shitty single-wire fence thing meant for animals or something, its wire was hanging low and I decided to run at full speed and leap over it. As I was leaping over it, someone stepped on it causing it to tense up and I fell on my right knee. It got split in half. I don't recommend that amount of pain to anyone. My right leg is still kind of fucked below the knee, I hardly feel anything down there. It makes my walking wonky if I don't focus on it. |
