Re: Boy Survives Horrifying Dog Attack
Although I wouldn't call pit bulls the most aggressive breed (that would be one of the small dog breeds like chihuahua) but because they're large, very common, and inflict more damage they're given the label. The root of the problem comes down to this, who is the most common owner of the bit bull breed? Low income, less educated populations. You'll find more pit bulls in the projects and trailer parks than anywhere else. You'll also find more children (often unattended). I think this really contributes to the sheer volume of pit bulls attacks. When you have a potentially dangerous breed mixed with this population, what else would you expect? Instead of banning the breed, they need to create laws only allowing licensed individuals to own the animals. To obtain a license an owner must go through a dangerous breed and public safety class, have the animal spayed or neutered (unless licensed to breed), and kept in a fenced yard or inside the house.

Re: Boy Survives Horrifying Dog Attack
Licences make them even more sinister!! But yes, it would be a good idea if someone wanted to own one. They should muzzle them by law too. and I agree with you spaying and neutering them too, control the breed more |

Re: Boy Survives Horrifying Dog Attack
My dogs have never in over 30 yrs bit anyone. I helped write the dangerous dog law in my hometown and we know which end of the leash responsibility lies.Concentrate on bad dog owners of all breeds not a particular breed of dog.

Re: Boy Survives Horrifying Dog Attack
And should your purported - supposed - safety record ever change...you should be mauled to a greater extent than the mauling delivered by your dog. This is effective concentrating on bad dog owners. Pain is the surest way to cut through the insane selfishness of denial. |

Re: Boy Survives Horrifying Dog Attack
And this coming from someone that defends subjecting the population - including children - to the predation of known dangerous unstable vicious essentially wild animals.
