Re: Body Mod Tongue Splitting
If just cut and sutured the tongue can start "fusing" back. Cauterization helps avoid this, but the best way to have it done is with a laser by a plastic surgeon. Also if there is a fistula (tunnel of scar tissue) from a piercing the chances of fusing are greatly reduced.

Re: Body Mod Tongue Splitting
Actually, mine was done with sutures and there was a very little bit towars the back of the split that did not have sutures. That was the area that had regrowth. Where the sutures were placed did not grow back together at all. Sutures also give it a more rounded, "natural" look. Even then, sorry I wouldn't trust a plastic surgeon to do it. Ever. I've seen them botch body modification procedures MANY times. My friend, who is a body modification artist, has fixed many things, including tongue splittings, ear pointings, and earlobe reconstructions that were performed by plastic surgeons who botched the initial procedures. |
