By keeping the flesh connected it provides blood flow to the portion of flesh/whatever was re-attached until it can live on it's own there. I know that I didn't exactly use medical lingo there, but hey. If I was a doctor, I wouldn't be on DR for my gore. |

good post, did not know these ones. yeah, this is wwI reconstruction surgery and it was a quite advanced technique back then. helped to save a lot of lives... if you can consider yourself to be happy after this evermore.
