i have a pitbull dam and lots of other breeds. my pitbull doesnt have any qualms mixing with the rest when i let them free in a single wide penned area. even when feeding in a common feeding basin. and she never barked at any other human before when i let the gates open during my pc rental shop operating hours (converted one of the house rooms into a shop). attitude changes only when she just gave birth and the rest goes near. i guess its attitude depends on the way it is raised. i kept mine always mingling with humans during walks and outdoor gatherings.

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls

instances i know that these breed becomes vicious is when theyre bred with other breeds (cross-breeding) the litter usually gets a different behaviour. pure-breed are usually adorable and extremely doting animals.

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls

Mixing does not cause aggression in the pups. There are highly aggressive purebreds and highly aggressive mixes. The mixing itself does not cause the aggression.

Aggression comes from high energy and frustration from not giving a proper outlet to expel it, or from a shy/fearful genetic background.(BAD breeding) They act in a fight or flight response, deciding to go "fight" instead of running away from the threat.

If you don't breed for the right traits in the dogs, you produce dogs that have bad traits. If I breed a pit bull to a golden retriever, it will not make the pups more aggressive, but if either of the parents have a shy/fearful/aggressive temperament, it can come out in the pups. It can be less, the same or MORE/WORSE in the pups.

It seems that the shy/fearful trait often gets worse. Instability gets worse. People ignore it and keep breeding crazy dogs.

Or dogs who aren't crazy and are nice, but don't act like the breed is supposed to act. Why call a dog a purebred, if it doesn't both LOOK and ACT like it's supposed to?

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls

They are Psycho Dogs.

They were bred for their Psycho Traits.

They were specifically bred to be Psycho Dogs.

we once bred a belgian malinois with a golden retriever. most of the pups came out too noisy non stop. stamina of GR+restlessness of belgian. maybe you can send me a private message about what breeds are ideal for crossbreeding. thanks in advance.

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls

So true Crunchy! If you are gonna have dogs then get ones (and a number of them, not SIX!) that you are able to train and properly care for. If owner is not the pack leader/alpha (call it what you will) the dogs are unsure and will fight each other to be in charge. No dog is inherently evil or aggressive, that would be their dumbass owners! Oh, and God Almighty stop breeding freaking Pibbles! There are a zillion in rescue now and they have huge litters and are harder to place because of moronic breed specific legislation. Punish the deed not the breed. Yup, I do dog rescue, but I own chihuahuas.

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls

All dogs are capable of injurying anybody. But from my own experience I'll hands down have to give a big to Pitbulls. These dogs are highly aggressive no matter how you train them. I hear stories all the time of the old family dog killing the toddler and it's always a pitbull. I walked into my friends backyard with him to play some table tennis and his Pit ran up and lunged at my throat. It was deliberately aiming at my throat. The dog missed with the first bite but jumped up again and bit my upper arm which was bruised for a couple of weeks. My buddies other dog (a German Shepard) ran over and got between the pitbull and me, saving me from a third bite that was going lower. Thank god for that German Shepard. So no offense to any of Pit Lovers but that breed of dog can go to hell.
Interesting story there, that pit sure must have sucked at being a pit bull....Only bruised your arm....I thought y'all said it would at the very least rip your arm off....I see a lonely figure trying desperately trying to fit in......
