It's not something they "let" go on, necessarily. Their lymph nodes don't return fluid back up their legs, so it all settles there, and eventually it starts to basically rot. Of course, if it were me, I'd probably be scrubbing the hell out of my legs and feet. And not all people with this are obese. The patient I had is emaciated from mid chest up. From mid chest down is where all the fluid is, so he LOOKS obese, but really isn't. |

some people's obesity causes this condition. others may have a form of this which is hereditary. they do not have to be obese as you can see... this is vicki borken who's lympedema apparently started after a dresser fell on her when she was just several years old. her lymphedema is hereditary. "my big foot" is a documentary on vicki. pics here and i'll try to put the documentary in my following post. |
