Bad Accident on German TV Show!!!

Samuel (Koch), 23, had offered to leap over five oncoming cars in the studio with spring-powered stilts, which enable him to jump like a kangaroo. His first jump succeeded, he balked at the second and he failed to clear the third car, crashing on his face and lying prone.

The cameras swung away, showing only the dismayed studio audience in the western German city of Dusseldorf, while medics hurried to his aid. The show was also being aired in Austria and Switzerland.

A little more to this story: Justin Bieber was scheduled to appear later in this episode and immediately tweeted his cancellation and asked fans to #prayforsamuel

23 year old Samuel Koch tried to jump over oncoming cars with his Powerriser stilts in a bet for the german TV show "Wetten dass..." . The fourth jump lead to the fatal accident. The car was driven by his own father.
He was rushed to hospital immediately where he got surgery. He is still in intensive care. As put over, his parents were able to talk to him and he can feel his legs.
I will post any updates on his health status.

Oh, I was just about to post this. As German residents we haven't stopped talking about this all day/night and we watched it happen live. It was an extremely intense hour and a half.

You forgot to mention the acts that were cancelled as a result of Mr Kochs accident: Justin Bieber, Take That, Cher, Cameron Diaz and Phil Collins.

It was horriffic to watch live and my boyfriend and I went to bed feeling very sick. The next press release shall be this afternoon, German time. Apparently he can talk and has feeling in his legs, but you saw the video - it's clearly bad news.

[By the way, the show is called "Wetten Dass" not Wetter Dass. It means "I bet that..." whereas Wetter Dass means "Weather that...". Big difference ;-) ]

UPDATE:

Samuel Koch is in much worse condition than expected. He is suffering from a complex injury of the cervical spine. Also the spinal cord got affected. The surgery took about 2 hours and he was put in an artificial coma afterwards.
