Re: Baby with Most of His Brain and Skull Missing Celebrates 1st Birthday
I can't help but agree with this. Yes, I can see that he is cute and loved, but his life would be pretty shit. Mind you: he probably lacks the ability to recognise that his existence is awful, so at least there's that.

Re: Baby with Most of His Brain and Skull Missing Celebrates 1st Birthday
His life will be shit compared to the average person who has a full brain, and who can recognise everything he is missing out on. Kermit, on the other hand, will live in blissful ignorance, quite possibly with no real consciousness. The parents will effectively be growing the world's most realistic RealDoll. If the parents are happy with that, and are genuinely content knowing their baby isn't going to do 1% of the stuff other kids will do growing up, well... good for them. I personally would have aborted. |

God bless this sweet child, a miracle child, adorable and does look like his father. I'm also very glad no one attached tacky statements about this sweet little angel. I hope he sees many more birthdays. During those birthdays to come and hope medical miracles take place as well that can improve his quality of life. Obviously his parents love him immensely, I'm so glad.

Re: Baby with Most of His Brain and Skull Missing Celebrates 1st Birthday
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. On one hand, he's a precious life. If he wasn't meant to be here, than he WOULD HAVE been STILLBORN. Yet, here he is, alive, despite all the doctors saying he would be stillborn. On the other hand, because he's missing most of his brain, he really won't be anything more than a vegetable. He's no better than a house plant. I've several house plants, and thank God I don't have to diaper and dress any of them! He'll mever be able to comprehend what love is, let alone express it to his parents. He'll never say, "Momma", or "Da-da", or any of the usual things that babies do. Perhaps he won't be able to distinguish colors, shapes, tastes, sights and sounds. I don't think I'd want to live a life such as that. If you, yourself are not prepared to live a life within a shell without, possibly, thoughts, feelings, love, happiness, anticipation, or any of life's simple pleasures, then why force someone else to? Back in the day, this child would've been left out in the wild, left to die. Nature is a cruel, heartless bitch, but life is a bastard, himself, and no one gets a free ticket! If you can't run with the big dogs, then stay the fuck on the porch. Hell, that little pup isn't even aware of what feet are, let alone that he might have a set for running. But, by all means, feel free to encapsulate his poor soul in an unresponsive hunk of flesh and force him to live out his existence as such. |

He seems to possess only the frontal lobe of his brain, that which covers psychomotor (involuntary muscle movement, pain receptors, etc.)function. All he will ever be is a source of revenue/entertainment. THAT is the real shame in this.

He doesn't eat or drink. He has a feeding tube. He has no cognition or awareness. This is just images of how far grief can take delusion.

Re: Baby with Most of His Brain and Skull Missing Celebrates 1st Birthday
Yeah, that's a great ducking quality of life.He is cute,I'll grant you that.He can't sit up,hold his head up,eat food by mouth, will never speak more then a few sounds and will never walk or take care of himself. He has a number of issues, his short life has been filled with a lot of discomfort.Babies like that are usually organ donors,he could have saved a number of lives....
