Baby with Huge Tumor in Her Throat Saved by Exit Surgery
This little girl had a huge tumor in her throat - so the Doctors performed an exit surgery to save her life. Both the mother and the little girl were under general anesthetic - the little girl was pulled out of the mothers womb just far enough that the doctors could perform surgery - she still was attached to the mother through the umbilical cord during the whole surgery - for oxygen. The doctors cut the tumor out and then cut the umbilical cord to get the girl into intensive care - a little later they performed another surgery on the little girl - everything went well. Both mother and daugther are now recovering from surgery. Things look pretty good - the doctors are confident that Luna can grow up like every other healthy girl.  3rd pic shows the size of the tumor compared to the size of her head - crazy... Wow! that was quite a tumor. i assume they already knew about the tumor before birth and were prepared for immediate surgery. it just seems strange to me that unborn babies can already have tumors. it makes one wonder what caused the tumor and what is going to stop it from happening again.

Beautiful baby. There was a picture circulating about ten years ago of a baby being operated on while still inside the mother. I little hand was seen reaching out and touching the doctor's hand. Amazing shot!
