This child was born in 2013 with the rare disease harlequin icthyosis which is characterized by a deficiency of the melanin layer of the skin making it brittle and can crack. It causes infections that leads to the child's death.
It occurs about one in six million pregnancies and, yet, there were about six hundred cases worldwide.
