Baby Born Without a Skull.
Amanda Victoria Souza do Carmo was born in Hospital in the city of Pimenta Bueno around 7:35 last Saturday, December 13th. After cesarean section, the father, was informed by a state nurse that his daughter was born without the skull and she should only live two to three hours. The baby was placed on oxygen where she spent all Saturday night. To the surprise of all, she was discharged on the morning of Monday the 15 along with her mother. Before leaving the hospital the family was offered a lethal injection for their child to accelerate the death. “They just said that my daughter would not pass the 48 hours of life," said the father. In the estimated time of death of the child, it would be at the beginning of Monday night, the humble family home located in the ranch-hands sector Bela Vista neighborhood was filled with curious, but again the little Amanda surprised everyone by starting breastfeeding, breathing without oxygen, move her legs, arms and reacting to all physical contact. In the early afternoon of Tuesday the 16, with support from the child protection agency represented by the directors, the baby again was delivered to the hospital where she was then transferred to the prey Children's hospital. The family hopes that after a thorough review of the case, the child is referred to a specialist hospital outside the State in order to undergo surgery. |

I don't think it's right to support life for birth defects as bad as this- there can't possibly be any quality of life to look forward to, for the baby or the parents. IMO.  |

This is what the brain looks like. Not much there to even work with. A surgery could only cover up the little part of brain this baby may have to protect it. She would never be self sufficient.

Self-sufficient? Those babies are worse off than Terri Schiavo, and she was technically alive but unconscious at the same time. This baby is breathing and eating on its own because its brain stem is well developed. That's all. |
