Baby Born with Stomach on Outside
This is so sad, this child was born with some deformity where it's stomach is in the outside.

It's called gastroschisis. It's a failure of the abdominal cavity to close completely during development. It looks horrific but a lot of times they can put it all back in. They actually wrap it all up in plastic to protect it, then gradually squeeze it back in over a couple of days.

True. I've seen photos of the babies wrapped in plastic wrap or a plastic bag is placed over the guts to protect against infection. Unfortunately, I see neither in these photos. There is nothing protecting the baby from infection. Also noticed the writing on the bottom of the pic is Russian. |

This is really kinda neat. They put the intestines and stomach into a zip lock sort of bag and hang it over the hole. It will eventually, thanks to gravity works its way back in. I think. I might have been stoned when I watched that on television....that might have been a movie....Fuck....where am I again?

That's true... probably not good to have your internal organs laying all over the un-sterile blankets. Also, it looks like this baby might be several days old already and those guts look like they're starting to go bad.
